The Hellenic Corporate Governance Council (HCGC), together with the Hellenic Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (Hellenic ACFE), the Hellenic Capital Market Commission, and with the support of Hellenic Exchanges Group organized the:

14th European Corporate Governance Conference and Experts Roundtable:

“Can Corporate Governance Contribute to Long-Term Investment”

27-28 March 2014

Under the aegis of the Hellenic Presidency of the Council of the European Union

The countries that undertake the Presidency of the European Council organize, as part of the relevant events, the European Council for Corporate Governance.

The 14th European Corporate Governance Forum took place on Thursday 27th and Friday 28th March 2014, in Athens.

On Thursday 27th March a conference with the European Committee was held that was not open to the public.

On Friday 28th March the main roundtable was held comprising two parts:

A’ part: Presentation of the conclusions of the previous day, as well as the legal and other initiatives of the European Committee, which specify the measures of the EC Action Plan on EU Company Law  and Corporate Governance, so that self-regulation will be effective, in order to have long-term and viable investments.

B’ part: There were two parallel special interest workshops, in cooperation with the Hellenic ACFE:

  • “Corporate Governance: Tone at the Top” – key speaker Mr. Panagiotis Georgiou, General Manager of the National Bank of Greece Group and President of the Hellenic Association of Certified Fraud Examiners. The workshop aimed at members of Boards and Committees and was held by the Nestor Advisors, UK.
  • “Corporate Governance Reporting” – key speakers Mr. Vassilis Monogios, Grant Thornton Partner and Member of the Board of the Hellenic Association of Certified Fraud Examiners and Mr. Sophocles Karapidakis, Regional Compliance Officer of Siemens. The workshop aimed at internal and external auditors and high level management and was held by representatives of the Financial Reporting Council, UΚ.

A third parallel workshop “Women on Boards” was held, in cooperation with SEV, which was not open to the public.
